About Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are small electronic devices designed to improve hearing by making sounds louder and clearer for people with hearing loss. With advancements in technology, hearing aids now come in various styles, sizes, and features to suit different needs, lifestyles, and levels of hearing loss.
Choosing the right type of hearing aid depends on several factors, including the degree of hearing loss, comfort, cosmetic preference, ease of use, and additional features like rechargeability or Bluetooth connectivity.
Below is an overview of the most common types of hearing aids, along with their key features and benefits to help you make an informed decision.
BTE (Behind-the-Ear)
Sits behind the ear with a tube connecting to an earpiece.
Suitable for all ages and most hearing loss types.
RIC (Receiver-in-Canal)
Similar to BTE but smaller, with the speaker inside the ear canal.
Offers better sound quality and a discreet look.
ITE (In-the-Ear)
Fits completely inside the outer ear.
Custom-made and easier to handle for people with dexterity issues.
ITC (In-the-Canal)
Smaller than ITE, fits partly in the ear canal.
Less visible and more cosmetic.
CIC (Completely-in-Canal)
Very small and nearly invisible, fits deep inside the ear canal.
Best for mild to moderate hearing loss.
IIC (Invisible-in-Canal)
The smallest and most discreet type.
Custom-fitted deep in the ear canal.
